Michigan-based Company To Unveil Electric Vehicle Charging Station At North American Internatio

PR Log (Press Release) – Dec 29, 2009 – PEP Stations, LLC, will introduce a made in Michigan electrical vehicle charging station aimed at building a solid charging infrastructure as the electric vehicle market begins to grow.  The PEP (Plug-in Electric Power) Station will be the exclusive charging station at the ECO X display at the North American International Auto Show, January 11-24, 2010.
“The first question most people ask when they begin to toy with the idea of owning an electric vehicle is, ‘How much will I save in gas?’ says PEP Stations President, James Blain. “Equally as important as the first question, the second question is, ‘Where will I charge my vehicle?’ That’s where we come in.”
The PEP Station was developed to compliment the release of electric vehicles in the second half of 2010. Although electric vehicle owners can charge at home, in order for the owner to roam with total confidence, an infrastructure for out of home charging must be developed to make charging easy.  The PEP Station was designed to be a smart, stylish, and simple charging station for the electric vehicle driver of today and tomorrow.
“As the electric vehicle market begins to flourish, consumers will need a convenient, reliable and easily accessible way to charge their vehicle outside of the home.  It’s that simple,” says Blain. “The PEP Station does just that in a safe, reliable, user-friendly, 220V charging station that can easily be installed at commercial destinations.”
Beautifully designed and easily identifiable by its stainless steel exterior and interactive touch screen, the PEP Station has been developed to be as easy to use for the consumer as a traditional fuel pump.   Electric vehicle owners simply need to plug in and power up.
“With CO2 emissions reduction targets being adopted around the world with the aim of mitigating the effects of man-made climate change, we believe that the increasing electrification of new vehicles – be it through hybridization, electric vehicles or range-extended plug-in hybrids – is a trend that will continue to grow,” explains Ricardo global director of controls & electronics Karina Morley.  “The creation of a commercially viable and effective recharging infrastructure will be a key enabler to the achievement of such climate change goals, allowing electric and plug-in hybrid vehicle users to maximize their zero-emission mileage.  Ricardo has been a proud partner in the engineering development of the PEP Station, helping to create a world-class vehicle recharging product.”
Similar to a standard fuel pump, the PEP Station allows drivers of electric vehicles to access electricity via an access card or credit card. When a vehicle connects to the PEP Station’s 220V power supply, the PEP Station recognizes a connection and the LCD screen prompts the user to accept the price per hour of connectivity, if payment by credit card is desired, or swipe an access card.  The station then asks the user to select the amount of charging time required and will begin charging or ask for a credit card to be swiped for authorization.  When the vehicle’s battery has been fully charged, or the time selected elapses, the station automatically discontinues the electricity.  If the user does not desire to fully charge the vehicle, or wishes to discontinue the charge prior to the selected time expiring, they simply disconnect the power cord.  The entire process is as easy as traditional methods of fueling vehicles, but done in a clean, eco-conscious manner.

South Korea Autos Report: Growth in new vehicle sales of around 3% in both 2010 and 2011

PR Log (Press Release) – Dec 25, 2009 – Data for the South Korean automotive industry over the first nine months of 2009 show that while it is still far from a full recovery, full-year results may not be as bad as first expected. By September, sales for the nine months had returned to growth of 9.3%, rising to 968,703 units. Trucks and Special Utility Vehicles led the industry with growth of 12.2% and 16.0% respectively, while passenger car sales were up 9.5%. This has led us to revise our sales forecast upwards slightly to 1.29mn units. Thereafter, we anticipate modest growth in domestic sales in 2010-2011, as the country's economy itself returns to modest positive economic growth in 2010. We foresee volume growth in new vehicle sales of around 3% in both 2010 and 2011, taking 2011 sales to an annual 1.37mn. Although production was down 15% year-on-year (y-o-y) in the nine months to September, parts suppliers have been finding alternative opportunities for growth. Hyundai Mobis has revealed plans to continue the expansion of its international network of logistics centres, while also adding more overseas outlets for its retail division. The supplier told The Korea Herald that while its logistics network is currently heavily focussed on markets where its affiliate carmakers of the Hyundai Kia Automotive Group are based, such as China, Europe and the US, it is also looking beyond these major hubs. Suppliers are still attracted to South Korea, however, with France's Faurecia confirming that it will invest KRW20bn (US$17.2mn) in a new plant in South Korea through its Faurecia Shinsung joint venture (JV), marking a 'momentous step forward' in its Asian strategy, the company said. However, South Korea is held back in BMI's Business Environment Ratings for the automotive industry in Asia Pacific by an auto market on the brink of saturation. The market has stayed in third with 66.8 out of 100, although up from 64.2 earlier in the year. Historically poor labour relations weigh on the country's overall rating, although long-term political and economic stability reduce the risk to returns. The score for limits to potential returns has risen, as the market's country score rating has gone from 52.2 to 65.8. Free trade agreements add to South Korea's sound regulatory environment, although there is room for improvement if a deal with the US can be ratified. Although Hyundai and Kia continue to dominate the domestic market, Germany and Japan's dominance of the imported vehicle market continues. However, imported car sales fell 10.8% for the first 10 months of 2009. Just seven brands achieved positive sales growth, with Mitsubishi Motors on top with growth of 575.5% y-o-y as sales rose from 53 in the same period of 2008 to 358 units. The biggest drop came from Rolls-Royce with a fall of 80% y-o-y. This is a particularly bad sign for the market, as imports have fuelled the market in the last few years.

The Fastest Animal in the World - New Post from Worldinterestingfacts.com

PR Log (Press Release) – Dec 22, 2009 – The Peregrine Falcon bird can reach the speed of 390 Kms / hour when It’s flying, making them the fastest animal on earth.
The Peregrine’s breeding range includes land regions from the Arctic tundra to the Tropics. It can be found nearly everywhere on Earth, except extreme polar regions, very high mountains, and most tropical rainforests; the only major ice-free landmass from which it is entirely absent is New Zealand. This makes it the world’s most widespread bird of prey. Both the English and scientific names of this species mean “wandering falcon”, referring to the migratory habits of many northern populations.
While its diet consists almost exclusively of medium-sized birds, the Peregrine will occasionally hunt small mammals, small reptiles or even insects. It reaches sexual maturity at one year, and mates for life. It nests in a scrape, normally on cliff edges or, in recent times, on tall human-made structures. The Peregrine Falcon became an endangered species in many areas due to the use of pesticides, especially DDT. Since the ban on DDT from the beginning of the 1970s onwards, the populations recovered, supported by large scale protection of nesting places and releases to the wild.

New Egypt Shipping Report: Suez Canal traffic sees sharp decline in 2009

PR Log (Press Release) – Dec 21, 2009 – The major development within Egypt's maritime sector over the last quarter is news that revenue and traffic volumes through the Suez Canal have fallen for their seventh consecutive month. In March 2009, revenue from the Canal declined by 21% year-on-year (y-o-y), with traffic down to just 1,439 ships. The Canal is a good indicator of the state of the global shipping sector and the fall in vessel volumes can be attributed to both the economic downturn and also the rise in piracy in the Gulf of Aden. The decline in traffic volumes through the Canal will have a major impact on Egypt's maritime sector, specifically on the ports that cater for the Canal's traffic. BMI notes that in 2009 we predict that tonnage throughput at East Port Said will decline by 2.3% to 17.3mn tonnes, with container volumes passing through the port falling by a forecast 2.5% to 2.066mn TEUs. We expect the recovery in Egypt's shipping sector to begin in 2010 with throughput at the nation's ports forecast to record positive growth. The throughput trends at Egyptian ports mirror the trade situation in the country as a whole, with total trade expected to decline by 4% in 2009. BMI forecasts a recovery to begin in 2010, with total trade expected to increase by 2.83% over the 2010-2013 period. As well as an in-depth analysis of Egypt's shipping sector, the Q309 Egypt Shipping Report also offers a global overview of the dry bulk, liquid bulk and container sectors and overviews of the 11 largest shipping lines and their strategies over the quarter to weather the downturn in trade volumes.

Hand Truck Use Greatly Reduces Injury and Accident Incidence

PR Log (Press Release) – Dec 15, 2009 – Putting Safety First with Proper Hand Truck and Moving Equipment
Many accidental deaths and permanent or serious injuries occur each year due to the mishandling and moving of large or heavy items from one place to another.  These injuries (or deaths) occur both in the workplace and the home.  Some of these mishaps could be avoided by the proper use of a hand truck (or similar equipment) in the moving of items.
Each situation is different, and your choice of equipment will be dictated by the following:
•   Size and weight of the items you will be moving. Very heavy and large items may not go onto a transport vehicle easily.  Many industrial accidents are caused by workers becoming injured (falls, sprains, strains and broken bones are examples).  When appropriate mechanical assistance (such as trolley wheels and scissor lift tables); the incidence and risk of injury is decreased.
•   The environment in which you will be moving the item (such as a warehouse, outdoors, terrain, and others) will be a determining factor in what equipment is suitable for you to use.
•   What the item consists of is a detrimental determining factor in the equipment you should utilize.   For example, if you have a gas cylinder (like oxygen); there is a special type of folding hand truck made specifically to move cylinders.  Hand Trucks Reviews will give you details about where these specialty folding hand trucks can be purchased, the best type to buy and unique features a particular type or model has. Features such as built in straps (for holding the cylinder securely in place) keep dangerous and often caustic or flammable chemicals from falling over, rolling about when transported or worse-causing a serious injury.
Determining what mechanical assistance your situation requires is the first step in making an informed decision about purchasing equipment.  Knowing the types available and what is the best use for them will help you do this.  All of this information is provided at no charge via Hand Trucks Reviews
Hand trucks manufacturers are reviewed and particular manufacturers performance abilities are evaluated with side by side comparisons made with other manufacturers.  When companies only produce a certain kind of equipment; the website will inform you of this.
Topics and types of equipment evaluated at Hand Truck Reviews include:
1.   Yard Carts-Everything you need to know to purchase the right yard cart for your task.
2.   Warehouse Forklift Systems-In depth information to help you improve your business production with the use of the correct warehouse forklift system for your needs.
3.   Folding and Packaging Machines-When products are placed in appealing packaging; sales increase.  Packaging can be strategically used to improve shipping ability and still be attractive to buyers. When folding and packaging machines are utilized properly they not only increase sales but decrease production costs and improve safety as well.
4.   Forklifts for Sale- A guide full of information to assist you in buying a forklift for sale.
5.   Warehouse Shelving-Ways to maximize warehouse storage space and keep overhead costs down.
6.   Used Pallet Racking-How to successfully locate used pallet racking (also called warehouse shelving) in s specific geographical region (west coast).
7.   Appropriate Packaging for Food Stuff to make it much easier to transport
Manufacturers of specific mechanical assistance equipment include Magliner hand trucks and Yale manual pallet jacks. These manufacturers are reviewed in detailed for you at Hand Truck Reviews.
Smaller, manual folding hand trucks for personal or home use are briefly discussed in addition to the industrial applications covered.
Whether you have a business, workshop, or just need assistance with storing and moving items that are difficult to manually move; Hand Truck Reviews can give you many ideas and innovative solutions to use.

"Argentina Shipping Report Q1 2010" is now available at Fast Market Research

PR Log (Press Release) – Dec 07, 2009 – BMI is proud to launch the Argentina Shipping Report for Q309. BMI launches its latest addition to its shipping report portfolio at a time of severe downturn in the global shipping sector. Container lines are releasing dismal Q109 results and announcing cost cutting strategies to try and protect their bottom lines. The bulk dry sector has been yo-yoing, with the Baltic Dry Index recording declines followed by increases. One thing is for sure, and that is that the highs of 2008 will not be replicated in 2009, as demand for raw materials, such as iron ore (the major dry bulk commodity), drops globally. The liquid bulk sector is seeing a similar decline as both oil and chemical demand slips. The main factor keeping the liquid sector afloat is the use of very large crude carriers (VLCCs) for storage. In this climate of uncertainty BMI offers an in-depth overview of the Argentine shipping market, focusing on emerging risks and where we expect to see recovery. BMI believes that the global downturn in shipping that took hold in Q408 and has persisted into 2009 looks set to continue. A recovery is not set to begin until the second half of 2010. This can be seen in our forecasts for the Argentine shipping sector, for which we have used measurements of throughput at the country's main port, Buenos Aires. We believe that total throughput at the port will decline by 9.8%, to 11.5mn tonnes, in 2009. BMI forecasts a decline of 8.27% to 1.09mn twenty-feet equivalent units (TEUs) at the port's container facilities. A recovery is set to begin in 2010. But we warn that Buenos Aires will not be able to recapture its pre-downturn volumes until 2012. BMI's Argentina Shipping Report includes offers data on port throughput from previous years, which has been used along with our forecasts for the country's imports and exports to predict throughput trends for the next five years (2009-2013). Detailed analysis explains the assumptions behind these forecasts. The BMI Argentina Shipping Report offers in-depth analysis into the three main shipping sectors: container, dry bulk and liquid bulk. We also detail the strategy that major shipping companies in these sectors have implemented to protect themselves against the global economic downturn. We also analyse other tactics that we believe operators in these sectors could use over 2009, as trade continues to contract. The report offers an overview of the ports of Buenos Aires and Bahía Blanca, with analysis of the ports' facilities, expansions and developments that are already under way or are planned, as well as details of multi-modal links from the ports to the rest of the country's transport network. Finally, the Argentina Shipping Report has an in-depth overview of 11 of the main global shipping companies (China Shipping, CMA CGM, COSCO, Evergreen, Hanjin, Hapag Lloyd, Maersk, MOL, MSC, NOL, and NYK). BMI analyses the firms' financial statistics, their strategies for managing the downturn and their most recent activity.

Study: Bahrain Shipping to see steady recovery beginning in 2010

PR Log (Press Release) – Dec 07, 2009 – The major developments within Bahrain's maritime sector over the last quarter have been dominated by the news of the opening of the country's new Khalifa bin Salman Port (KBSP), also known as the Bahrain Gateway, on April 1 2009. The port is part of APM Terminal's Middle East portfolio. The port's launch of operations marks the retirement of Bahrain's Mina Salman port, which will transfer its operations to the KBSP. The KBSP catered for its first vessel on April 15 2009, when APL's 2,500-TEU Dalian pulled into the port on its SRX service. The transfer of operations from Mina Salman to the KBSP is progressing, with Eye For Transport reporting on April 23 2009 that all container operations at Mina Salman had ceased and were now being undertaken at the KBSP. BMI has no information on when other cargo operations at the port of Mina Salman are to finish, but believes it will be before the end of 2009. Based on this assumption, BMI has revised its forecasts for throughput at Bahrain's ports in 2009. Container throughput has now been revised down to 0 for 2009 and for the rest of the mid term, as the port has now been taken out of service. This means all containers will now pass through KBSP and we estimate that the throughput for 2009 will be 259,489 TEUs. This is a decrease on the throughput figure registered by Mina Salman in 2008 (269,331 TEUs) and is a reflection of the impact that BMI expects the economic downturn will have on Bahrain's port sector. We believe that with Mina Salman's throughput being removed, KBSP will handle 427.6mn tonnes in 2009. This is a decrease on the 442mn tonnes Mina Salman catered for in 2008 and the decline can be attributed to the global downturn in trade, which will not leave Bahrain's trade sector unscathed. BMI forecasts that a steady recovery in throughput will begin in 2010, with tonnage volumes passing through the port expected to increase by 2.4% to 437.8mn tonnes. BMI believes average growth between 2011 and 2013 will remain steady at 2.4%, allowing the KBSP to handle an estimated 469,758mn tonnes in 2013. As well as an in-depth analysis of Bahrain's shipping sector, the Q309 Bahrain Shipping Report also offers a global overview of the dry bulk, liquid bulk and container sectors and overviews of the 11 largest shipping lines and their strategies over the quarter to weather the downturn in trade volumes.

Quality Parks Seeks "Port Jefferson Coastal Trail" Connecting Long Island Hikers To Connecticut

PR Log (Press Release) – Nov 27, 2009 – Quality Parks (Port Jefferson, NY) -  Quality Parks submitted a grant,  proposing the Port Jefferson Coastal Trail, which will add approximately 7.25 miles of trails to Suffolk County. They will also try to connect this Trail to the trails extending from Stony Brook to Wading River, including the 100 mile Paumanok Path to Montauk Point. And they hope to also connect this Trail, via ferry, to Connecticut trails, including trails from Florida to Maine.
The proposed Port Jefferson Coastal Trail would begin in Centennial Park and continue along the coast to Crystal Brook Hollow Road. From there, Quality Parks hope the trail will continue to Little Portion Friary to the Mt. Sinai school district property and then to the Port Jefferson-Wading River Trail.
For pictures and maps - go to www.qualityparks.org - Quality Parks Guide - Hiking Trails.
Tangible conservation and outdoor recreation results expected include: 1) the existing use of the Crystal Brook Hollow Road (narrow and dangerous) will be moved off road and on to the Port Jefferson Coastal Trail, 2) improved public parking access, 3) increased communication, coordination and cross-support partnerships among trail stakeholders and the public, and 4) improved natural resource conservation, from establishing a horseshoe crab sanctuary to invasive species removal.
Quality Parks is communicating with the following (and will add more as they continue to contact interested stakeholders):
   * East Coast Greenway - Check out there trail system here.
   * Ecological Research & Development Group - Horseshoe Crab Sanctuaries
   * Little Portion Friary - The Society of St. Francis
   * Long Island Greenways and Healthy Trails
   * Three Village Community Trust - Friends of The Greenway  - great map
   * Town of Brookhaven, Highway Department
Time Sensitivity
Two trails are converging one from Stony Brook going east to Port Jefferson, and one from Port Jefferson going east to Wading River. As this is happening right now and is being funded, Quality Parks believes it is the right time to seek grant funding to enable Long Island hikers reach Connecticut, and beyond by ferry. Until the grant award decision is made, Quality Parks will be posting news, and seeking additional grants and donations for trail planning, logistics, and field equipment.  Of note, some of the grant money awarded to Quality Parks will go to partners to cover their material resource needs in appreciation of their volunteer labor support for the Port Jefferson Coastal Trail.
Quality Parks applies quality resources to solve conservation challenges. Stories to stimulate, encourage, educate and involve the general public in natural resource stewardship practices.  For additional information, contact Mindy Block - mblock@qualityparks.org

Train Commuters Paying Too Much For Car Insurance

PR Log (Press Release) – Nov 26, 2009 – Residents of Summerhill are Australia’s biggest users of trains per capita and as a result many of them are probably paying far more for their car insurance than they should says Roger Grobler, CEO of Real Insurance. ( http://www.realinsurance.com.au )
Says Grobler: “We have analysed numerous Australian Bureau of Statistics figures across the suburbs of Sydney. While Summerhill residents should be commended on their extensive use of public transport the fact of the matter is that if they have a car they are still paying the same car insurance premiums as those who drive even four times the distance.
“In effect many Summerhill car owners using public transport are subsidising other motorist’s car insurance premiums.
“I believe that there are many drivers in Summerhill who are paying far more for their car insurance than they should given their profile and the distance they drive.
“These motorists are far better off exploring a pay-as-you-drive insurance system whereby they only pay for the kilometres they drive.”
Grobler points out that pay-as-you-drive motor insurance only works for those people who drive less than the average for their area and their demographic profile compared to their peers.
He gives the example of a 39 year old female living in Summer Hill who could save up to $365.29 by going to Pay As You Drive car insurance. She drives a 2007 Hyundai Getz 5 door auto and would traditionally pay motor insurance of around $807.88 per annum. Using Pay As You Drive she would pay $442.59 for 5,000kms, $486.91 for 7,000kms or $553.40 for 10,000kms of car insurance purchased.
Further examples
Cairns
Residents of Cairns are the largest bicycle users in Australia, yet like the train users of Summer Hill, are still paying the same premiums as regular car users.
A 29 year old Female living in Cairns who could save up to $193.90 by going onto Pay As You Drive insurance. She drives a 2007 Mazda 2 Neo Auto and would traditionally pay motor insurance of around $563.50 per annum. Using Pay As You Drive she would pay $369.60 for 5,000kms, $401.94 for 7,000kms or $450.45 for 10,000kms of insurance purchased.
Campbelltown
A 49 year old male living in Campbelltown who could save up to $356.97 by going onto Pay As You Drive insurance. He drives a 2007 Ford falcon Eurosport auto and he would traditionally pay motor insurance of around $874.83 per annum. Using Pay As You Drive he would pay $517.86 for 5,000km, $559.73 for 7,000kms or $621.68 for 10,000kms of insurance purchased.
Pymble
A 40 year old male living in Pymble who could save up to $323.82 by going onto Pay As You Drive insurance. He drives a 2008 Holden Lumina VE and would traditionally pay motor insurance of around $800.67 per annum. Using Pay As You Drive he would pay $476.85 for 5,000kms, $517.90 for 7,000kms or $579.51 for 10,000kms of insurance purchased.

Frank Myers Auto Will Facilitate Toyota Truck Recall In Winston-Salem, NC

PR Log (Press Release) – Nov 25, 2009 – 110,000 Tundra trucks from the 2000-2003 model years are being recalled by Toyota Motor Corporation to address excessive rust on the vehicle's frame. The government urged owners to remove the spare tire from the frame, concerned it could fall onto the road and create a hazard for other vehicles.
The recall announced Tuesday involves 2000-2003 model year Tundras registered in 20 "cold weather" states and the District of Columbia. The states are: Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia and Wisconsin.
Robert Thomas, the Automotive Service Director at Frank Myers Auto Maxx in Winston-Salem, said that they are ready to handle the consumer demand from their Toyota truck customers in Virginia. “Frank Myers Auto Maxx is, as usual, ready to handle this unfortunate situation with Toyota. Even though we are a used car dealership in North Carolina, we have tons of happy customer in Virgina...with many being Toyota turck drivers. We want to assure them that we are here to help.”
Anybody that owns a Toyota truck, regardless if what state they live in or where they bought it, is encouraged to call the service department at Frank Myers Auto Maxx in Winston-Salem, NC as soon as possible. The number is (336) 831-0656 or you can visit the dealership website at http://www.frankmyersauto.com.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration opened an investigation into excessive rust on Tundra frames in October after receiving 20 complaints of "severe frame corrosion." NHTSA said then it had received 15 reports alleging the spare tire, stowed under the truck bed, separated from the frame. Five other reports alleged broken brake lines because of the rust.
Toyota said Tuesday it was recalling the trucks in the cold weather states because road salts and chemical deicers are typically used to treat roads during the winter and could cause additional corrosion in the trucks.
Beginning in December, Toyota said it will notify owners and ask them to take their trucks to a Toyota dealer for an inspection of the frame's rear cross-member. Toyota said if the inspection finds that it can no longer safely support the spare tire, the cross-member assembly will be replaced.
If replacement parts aren't available, the dealer will find a temporary solution, such as removing the spare tire and securing it to the truck bed.
Toyota said if no significant rust is found, owners will have a corrosion-resistant compound applied to the frame. Toyota said the inspections and repairs will be done at no charge to owners.
NHTSA said owners of 2000-2003 Tundras registered outside the cold weather states will also be notified and have their vehicles inspected and repaired if the owners desire.
Toyota said owners could "minimize the risk of the spare tire separating from the rear cross-member by removing it. If you choose to do so, please be sure not to be under the rear cross-member or spare tire carrier during the lowering process." The automaker also urged owners to secure the spare tire in the truck bed or other areas of the vehicle.
For more information, owners may call the Toyota Customer Experience Center at 800-331-4331.

Execflyer Completes Eye in the Sky Press tour

PR Log (Press Release) – Nov 23, 2009 – Execflyer recently worked alongside Brighton based Pegasus PR, to provide helicopter charter transport as part of a regional launch for a new eye care product from Bausch and Lomb – Ocuvite Complete.
The brief was to transport over 20 journalists and key Bausch and Lomb representatives to a series of lunchtime briefings, designed to introduce the new product and educate more fully on age-related macular degeneration – the UK’s leading cause of blindness. With helicopters departing Bristol, Cardiff, Nottingham, Birmingham, Liverpool, Manchester, Glasgow and Edinburgh, Pegasus and the team at Execflyer worked for two months planning the events, ensuring that venues, drivers, helicopters and landing sites were all prepared. Passengers were transported in VIP helicopters including the Agusta 109, Eurocopter EC135 and the AS 355 Twin Squirrel. Given the weather that the UK experienced in the last two weeks, all parties involved made an exceptional effort to ensure that all flights went without a hitch.
Stuart Hehir, director of Pegasus commented, “We have been highly impressed by the level of professionalism and attention to detail in the planning and operation of this potentially complex series of events. Our priority was to ensure that the briefings went as smoothly as possible and this was certainly the case, with many journalists actively emailing us to say how enjoyable the transport had been. I would happily recommend the team at Execflyer and we will certainly be using them for all our future chartering needs.”
Steven Moth, director of Execflyer added “My thanks go to all operators and crew that were involved in this tour of the UK. Weather factors were certainly against us on most days, though the planning and expertise of all parties involved ensured that we managed to fly all but one sector which was affected by fog. Pegasus did an exceptional job and their attention to detail as well as clear communication were important components in completing these charter trips”.

“People come to our site for a convenient way to get great deals on airport parking.  Now, they can go to www.AboutAirportParking.com/FeedingAmerica for a convenient way to make their parking reservation while, at the same time, contributing to the fight against hunger,” said Erik Budde, CEO of AboutAirportParking.com.
A report Monday from the United States Department of Agriculture said 49 million Americans are food insecure.  This marks an increase of 36 percent over the 36.2 million who were at risk of hunger a year ago.
According to Feeding America, 41.5 percent of all the households it serves reported having to choose between buying food and paying for utilities or heat within the previous 12 months.  More than one-third (35 percent) of client households reported having to choose between paying for food and paying their rent or mortgage.
“Not having a place to park at the airport is a minor inconvenience.  Not having enough food on the table to feed yourself or your family is a major problem that we should all be working toward solving.  Our contribution is just a small part of the concerted effort it will take from businesses, individuals and charitable organizations like Feeding America to address this issue that impacts nearly 50 million Americans,” said Budde.
AboutAirportParking.com
AboutAirportParking.com is a directory of over 400 airport parking lots at more than 100 airports in the U.S.. The site provides price comparisons, interactive maps and user reviews to help travelers find the best lot for their needs. In addition, customers can book discounted reservations at more than 80 parking lots across the country. Once again, travelers can go to www.AboutAirportParking.com/FeedingAmerica between now and November 30 to book their upcoming airport parking reservation, which will result in a $5 donation Feeding America.

The Lights are Falling! How Not to Lower the Lights

PRLog (Press Release) – Oct 09, 2009 – GRAND RAPIDS, MI; WOODSTOCK, AL; and NEWTOWN, CT – Some outdoor stadium light poles might have a defect so crippling it can topple the entire structure to the ground.  According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), a qualified inspector should examine all high-mast luminaires for visible signs of cracking, fracture or deterioration.
In August, the CPSC issued an advisory about outdoor steel stadium light poles after nine in Texas fell and 50 developed fractures and/or cracks.  The problem was so persistent the CPSC is now investigating a variety of manufacturers’ light poles.  In response, two wholly owned subsidiary of TUV Rheinland North America Holding Company called Non-Destructive Testing Services, Inc. (NDTS) and Unified Testing Services, Inc. (UTS) are reminding facility managers that visual examination of the outdoor structure is not enough to catch potentially fatal flaws.
“The high-mast luminaire, if overlooked, can become a loaded gun but many of the issues cannot be found with the naked eye,” said Donald Uptain, president of Unified Testing Services, Inc., a full-service testing and consulting engineering firm headquartered in Woodstock, Ala.  “A thorough safety inspection and testing program should be established for these types of structures. Even brand new, they could have serious flaws that had been introduced during the manufacturing, welding or anchoring stages.  Specialized testing equipment will catch those issues.”
High-mast luminaires are commonly found lining the nation’s highways and roadways, providing light once the sun sets.  Outdoor stadium light poles, also known as high-mast luminaires, are usually found in facilities such as recreational parks and fields, parking lots, outdoor stadiums, high schools and colleges, and prisons.  These towers usually withstand years of abuse from the environment.  But wind can fatigue the entire structure from the anchor bolts to the vertical welds, and moisture from rain and snow can contribute to corrosion.  In some cases, improper installation can result in a tilted pole or loose screw plates.
“The safety of an outdoor structure can be compromised by either environmental conditions or human error,” said Bob Bills, president of Non-Destructive Testing Services, Inc., a full-service material inspection company headquartered in Grand Rapids, Mich. “In worst-case scenarios, structural or construction flaws can cause serious injuries or even death to bystanders.  Safety inspection and testing along with periodic assessments can help minimize those potential dangers.”
NDTS and UTS provide inspection services for high-mast luminaires using qualified/certified personnel and specialized ultrasonic testing equipment.  Inspectors are certified to the requirements of the American Society for Nondestructive Testing (ASNT) recommend practice SNT-TC-1A.  Pole inspections follow written guidelines provided by the U.S. Department of Transportation’s (DOT) ‘Procedure for the Inspection of High-Mast Luminaires.’”
Services consist of certified welding inspectors and NDT technicians inspecting the general structure including the welded and bolted connections, and utilizing liquid penetrant, magnetic particle, and ultrasonic testing for cracks.  Additionally, a thorough visual examination of the pole base is offered along with testing of the nuts to the anchor base.
For more information about the High-Mast Luminaires Inspection Program at UTS, call 1-TUV-RHEINLAND (888-743-4652).

Mobility Scooter Rental in Disney, Orlando only £22 per day

PRLog (Press Release) – Oct 09, 2009 – I have just got back from the Disney area of Orlando FL.
I suffer severely with arthritis, so decided to use the service of a Mobility Scooter Rental company in Orlando on this visit.
After trauling the internet, we found a company called www.SunMobilityRentals.com . Not only was their prices the lowest on the internet, but their service was second to none.
The Pride Elite Traveller PLUS mobility scooter arrived at my Disney Hotel at 8am in the morning. It was not just dropped off outside like some of the other companies were doing, a young man called David delivered the scooter to my room, and spent about 20 mins with me, showing me how to break it down into 5 pieces, to go into the back of the car. He also gave me some tuition on how to use the machine.
I was so delighted with the scooter at the end of my trip, I asked www.SunMobilityRentals.com how much one of these scooters would cost to buy. This is what really blew me away. They sold me the machine that I had been using around the Disney Parks for the past 2 weeks, at a fraction of the price that I could buy a new one for. I simply booked it onto the Virgin aircraft home for FREE... (Airlines can not charge you for taking these on board, and it is not classed as part of your luggage allowance either)... when I got off the aircraft at Gatwick, the scooter met me at the enterence to the aircraft.... I simply put it togehter which took 15 seconds, and then rode it through the whole airport, and back to my car.
Fantastic service guys. I would certainly recommend www.SunMobilityRentals.com to everyone.
P.S. Disney now charge $45 per day to rent a scooter in the parks. www.SunMobilityRentals only charged me $22 per day for a much better machine!

Hundreds Protest In Ennis Over Proposed Cuts To Rural Transport Programme

PRLog (Press Release) – Sep 11, 2009 – Members and supporters of Clare Accessible Transport (CAT), who were participating in a nationwide day of action against the proposal, claim that any funding cuts would have a detrimental impact on rural communities throughout Clare.
Addressing a crowd in Ennis Town Centre today, Mayor of Clare Councillor Tony Mulcahy underlined the valuable contribution made by CAT to communities across the County.
He said: “The McCarthy report advocates the total abolition of the rural transport programme. This recommendation has been made without due consideration being given to the considerable effect that such a cut would have on the lives of many thousands of people.  CAT has a network of routes that facilitate people in remote areas who wish to avail of local services. These communities will be denied access to such vital services if CAT is denied funding.”
Mayor Mulcahy noted that helping disabled persons and the elderly retain their independence was only one aspect of rural transport.
“It is very much a part of the fabric of the community, enabling community groups, after school projects, family resource centres, and the Health Service Executive to provide access to their programmes. I would appeal to Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs Minister Éamon O Cuív to carefully consider this fact before making any decision regarding the Rural Transport Programme”, he concluded.

Pilots of Jet Airways may call off strike today

PRLog (Press Release) – Sep 10, 2009 – The Jet Airways [ Get Quote ] management and National Aviators Guild made a breakthrough on Thursday night with a tentative draft which indicated the airline is likely to reinstate all the five pilots it had terminated, with some riders. However, a Jet spokesperson said: "Currently, we are not aware of any such move."
"Jet management has agreed to take back all the four pilots," said Congress leader Sanjay Nirupam, who said he was negotiating between the management and the pilots. It is expected that this draft agreement would be presented to the central labour commissioner on Saturday.
Earlier during the day, the Union Ministry of Labour stepped in as Jet Airways' protesting pilots hardened their stance over the dismissal of five employees and the right to form a union and took mass sick leave for the third day, forcing the airline to cancel over 160 domestic and 40 international flights.
It was a day of more drama with the NAG, representing 650 Jet pilots, drumming up support from labour unions across the political spectrum and the airline's cabin crew ground staff appealing to the pilots to return to work.
http://vacation-packages-idea.blogspot.com/
Indian Commercial Pilots Association (ICPA) and Indian Pilots Guild (IPG), the two commercial pilots' union of Air India [ Images ], are supporting the Jet pilots. Union representatives of both ICPA and IPG have said that in case Air India puts in additional flights to take the Jet Airways' passengers, they are planning to tell their members not to pilot those flights. ICPA members today met NAG pilots in Delhi [ Images ].
Chief Labour Commissioner S Mukhopadhyay and the Jet Airways management led by Executive Director Saroj Datta attended the first round of a reconciliation meeting today, in which the pilots were conspicuous by their absence. NAG Joint Secretary Sam Thomas alleged the pilots were not given notice to attend what he described as "management engineered talks".
The talks coincided with Jet Airways Chairman Naresh Goyal calling on Union Labour Minister Mallikarjun Kharge [ Images ] in Shram Shakti Bhawan, New Delhi, which ministry officials described as a "courtesy call".
Kharge, however, made it clear that the pilots had every right to form a union. "No one can deny the pilots the basic right to organise themselves in a union," he told reporters today.
Ministry officials added that sacking pilots -- two were sacked on Monday for refusing to submit to examination by company doctors --  in the middle of conciliation efforts was an unfair labour practice and would embarrass the management.
NAG today also submitted a plea in the Madras High Court for the court to take action against the Jet management for hiring foreign pilots when experienced and senior Indian pilots have been sacked -- two pilots were sacked last month, the original cause of the pilots' protest.
The guild also asked the court to monitor the airline's day-to-day and flight, wise operations since it was not taking passenger safety into consideration.
The Jet management, however, stuck to its position that the pilots should return to work and dissolve the union before talks could be held.
In New Delhi, the airline's cabin crew and ground-handling staff also held a press conference to appeal to the pilots to return to work. "Mr Goyal has said he will close the airline. What will happen to us?  The pilots have a lot of money to feed their family but we don't," said a representative of the ground handling team.
They however denied that they were acting under management pressure. The airline's bottomline losses would be over Rs 5 crore per day, according to Mahantesh Sabarad, an aviation analyst.
Meanwhile, in a letter to the CEO of Jet Airways, Wolfgang Prock Schauer, nine major trade unions said, "By preventing the pilots to form a union, you are violating their legal right to pursue legitimate trade union activities and infringing their fundamental right to freedom of association guaranteed to them and all citizens of India by the Constitution."
The unions that signed the letter of support included the Hind Mazdoor Sabha, Centre for Indian Trade Unions, Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh, All India Trade Union Congress, Indian National Trade Union Congress, All India United Trade Union Centre, United Trade Union Congress, All India Central Council of Trade Unions and Self Employed Women's Association.
