PRLog (Press Release) – May 27, 2009 – CANTON, MA, Humboldt Storage and Moving, greater Boston’s oldest moving company, largest United Van Lines agent and experts in stress-free moving have put together a number of general packing tips for this upcoming busy moving season. A large percentage of all moving business in the country is performed between May and August so the more prepared a family moving is the better.
Humboldt Storage and Moving, a Boston Moving Company with a mission of stress-free moving has detailed several of these packing tips in a short video that can be viewed here; http://www.movingcompanyblog.com/?p=305
Some of those tips include:
-How to pack a box properly: Use sturdy boxes and make sure the box is properly cushioned with paper. Pack your box tight and try to keep it under 50 pounds in weight.

-Non-Allowable: There are many items that cannot be packed including, household cleaners, gasoline, paints, pesticides, fertilizers and other potentially harmful products.

-Irreplaceable items; Think about other means to transport irreplaceable items such as passports, check books and other valuables you cannot lose.

-Start early: You may find that you had no idea how much “stuff” you have. Leave plenty of time to pack your belongings and plan for more than you think you have. As soon as you know you are moving, start packing.
“Packing can be one of the more stressful and time-consuming parts of the moving process,” says James Sullivan, president of Boston Moving Company Humboldt Storage and Moving.” Planning ahead and packing as soon as you know you are moving can help reduce the stress of the moving process. You’ll also want to leave plenty of time to pack as you may find items that can cause emotions if you have not seen them for a long period of time or are forced to dispose of them or leave them behind.”

PRLog (Press Release) – May 25, 2009 – notes Celtic Campervans (www.celticcampervans.com), the leading company for campervan rental in Ireland. Not only have Celtic Campervans seen a significant boost in rentals of their campervans for holidays in Ireland, the UK and all over Europe this year, but the company Volkswagen has reported a 25% increase in campervan sales enquiries.
It seems that more families than ever before are choosing a campervan holiday in the UK or in nearby Ireland or Europe. It is also a spontaneous and fun holiday choice, perfect for keeping the kids happy with an ever-changing landscape and places to explore.
Research carried out by Volkswagen has found that more families and mature camping and outdoor enthusiasts are looking to buy campervans than ever before, while The Camping and Caravanning Club has reported a 27% increase in summer campsite bookings compared with last year. Celtic Campervans reports a similar boost in bookings for motorhome rental in Ireland this year, both for holidays in the Emerald Isle and in the UK and mainland Europe. For those who don’t have the budget to buy their own campervan but love the idea of a self-drive holiday in Ireland or further afield, campervan hire from Celtic Campervans is the perfect choice. They get the freedom and fun of a campervan holiday without financially committing to the purchase and continual upkeep of their own van. The Dublin-based family company has built up a large fleet of modern and spacious campervans that are big enough to cater to families and high-spec enough to appeal to the most ardent of campervan enthusiast.

Survey: Americans Keeping Cars Longer in Struggling Economy

PRLog (Press Release) – May 23, 2009 – PINEVILLE, NC.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The current economy has many Americans shying away from buying new cars and hanging on to their cars longer than in years past, a new trend that raises important maintenance considerations.
A new poll from R. L. Polk & Co. revealed that 64 percent of consumers said they were “very or extremely likely” to keep their current vehicle longer than they normally would due to economic conditions. Additionally, Polk reported that the average length of ownership of both new and used vehicles increased from a little more than three years in 2002 to nearly four years in 2008, a 24 percent increase.
Carolina Tire & Service Center, a leading South Charlotte provider of professional car care, is seeing the same trend of customers keeping their older vehicles longer. A higher number of older cars on the road increases risk and underscores the importance of performing regular preventive maintenance.
“People are seeing a difference keeping their old car versus buying a new one,” said Jim Seidel, president & CEO of XL Tire, Inc, corporate parent to Carolina Tire. “The fact is, it is cheaper to fix and maintain your current vehicle at Carolina Tire than it is to find a huge downpayment and start payments again on a new one, even with today's incentives.”
People with older vehicles may want to consider services that will help bring their car new life. Replacing the vital fluids in your car is a great start. By flushing or servicing your coolant, transmission fluid and performing a fuel injector service will add new life to your car. A fresh set of tires will also go a long way to making not only your car ride more smooth but may even save you money at the pump, especially when filling your tires with nitrogen. “Routine maintenance should never be deferred", said Seidel.
Encouragingly, regular maintenance is top of mind with respondents in the Polk survey. Specifically, 81 percent said they planned to take better care of their vehicle to keep it running longer. Carolina Tire & Service Center professionals say there are some maintenance guidelines that can help extend the life of an older car. They include:
Oil and transmission services – Without a good lubricant, parts of the engine and transmission rub together and wear each other out which could lead to a costly repair. Check out www.Carolina-Tire.com for oil changes specials like the buy 1 get 2 free option for South Charlotte residents.
Timing belts - A broken timing belt can leave you stranded and cost hundreds to repair. Stop in Carolina for a free check for signs of wear, such as cracks, shredding or excessive slack. For vehicles with interference engines, if a timing belt breaks or jumps a notch, the engine valves may open at the wrong time possibly causing hundreds of dollars in damage.
Water pumps - Water pump failure is fairly common during the life of the vehicle. Some tell tale signs of failure include a coolant leak inside the car or on the ground, the temperature gauge running hotter than normal or a screeching sound when you start the car. This is an easy fix that could literally save your engine's life.
Brake pads - A high-pitched squealing when braking may mean excessive brake-pad wear. Other symptoms can include the vehicle pulling to one side when braking, the brakes grabbing or a “soft” brake pedal. A grinding sound could mean worn brake pads are damaging the brake rotors. Carolina Tire uses NAPA's Adaptive One ceramic brake pads for top quality and a lifetime warranty only through Carolina Tire.
“Delaying routine maintenance on an older vehicle will accelerate wear and tear. Worst case scenario, you might be driving a vehicle that’s a safety risk for you and your family,” said Stephanie Mackin, professional service writer for Carolina Tire and recent NASCAR Institute of Technology graduate. Mackin adds that regular maintenance can add miles to the life of your car and cut down on avoidable expenses. “For example, if you delay getting new brake pads, you might end up needing rotors as well, which is a costly repair.” Vehicle maintenance will vary based on the vehicle year, make and model but following the owner’s manual recommended maintenance intervals will work well in extending the life of your vehicle.

Road Wrap Featured At The 45th Mustang Anniversary

PRLog (Press Release) – May 14, 2009 – World Class Concepts demonstrated Road Wrap at the 45th Mustang Anniversary Celebration. It was hosted by Ford Motor Company and Mustang Club of America at Barber Motorsports Park. The show takes place every five years and this year it was in Birmingham Alabama on April 16-19. Judging was restricted to 250 cars and display limited to 2,250. There were open track events, Thursday night cruise, and a Saturday evening with Ford, among many other events.
Road Wrap was a big hit at the show and allowed the attendees to offer an alternative product to their customers for bug, tar and rock protection on their cars. Most paint hazards when left on for a period of time are extremely hard to remove. There are certain car care products on the market such as a bug and tar remover to help with bug protection. Unfortunately, a majority of these don’t work like they say they do. Some methods of vehicle paint protection include a car bra, bug shield, car cover, clear bra and paint protection film. The most convenient way to protect cars, trucks and even RV’s from bugs, tar and road grime is a paint film protection called Road Wrap. It’s a disposable car film that can be cut to fit any vehicle and left on for up to seven days. One roll of Road Wrap will wrap the front of an average size vehicle up to six times. It applies easily and removes cleanly. For more information visit http://www.buyroadwrap.com. or call 1-888-806-7474.
